Christmas Activities this week, from April Mullins

The Downtown Presbyterian Church will hold its 79th Annual Waffle
Shoppe and bake sale Dec. 1 from 11-2. Cost of tickets is $6 and
includes our traditional waffles, turkey hash or sausage, cheese or
plain grits and cranberry sauce....all made with love and "from
scratch" by members and friends of this historic church.

Bill will be making waffle batter and I will be slinging hash and
sausage and grits.....(PS we DON'T make the sausage). This is a not to
be missed event which marks the beginning of the holiday season. Then
in the late afternoon of that day Mayor Purcell will hold the Metro

Wertham Mills Loft Tour and Art Exhibition

The Lofts at Werthan Mills to open for Loft Tour and Art Exhibition

Nashville – The public is invited to join the residents of The Lofts at Werthan Mills and members of Untitled artists' group for a free, one-night-only Art Exhibition and Loft Tour on Friday, November 18th, from 5 pm to 9 pm. The Lofts at Werthan Mills are located at 1400 8th Avenue North.

Experience Extraordinary Art in an Extraordinary Space, as the historic Werthan Mills Building is transformed into a multi-floor art gallery featuring the work of Untitled artists. Built in 1882 as part of a cotton mill, the Werthan building now holds some of the most innovative architectural design in Nashville while retaining many historical elements of the original building. Its gleaming restored floors, exposed beams and occasional remnants of heavy machinery make a dramatic living space and an outstanding context for art. Residents will open selected lofts for the tour, including contemporary lofts designed by GELYN, and one or two that are currently available for purchase. Over 25 Nashville artists will contribute paintings, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, and will donate 10% of art sales to a hurricane relief fund.

Lance DuPre of DuPre Designs, an interior designer from New Orleans and resident at Werthan Mills, conceived and organized the event by connecting the Untitled artists' group to his neighbors at Werthan Mills. Artists, residents and sponsors have worked together to create a truly unique event showcasing new art and design.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of DuPre Designs, the City Living Team and Mark Deutschmann of Village Real Estate Services, this event is free and open to the public.

Germantown en Plein Air, from Rich Boyd

The Mad Platter is excited to present a collection of Germantown paintings created during the Oil Painters of America Great Paintout. The show features several artists including Germantown's newest neighbor, Roger Dale Brown.

What is Plein Air? Plein air – in the open air – is painting from life. It is the challenge for artists to truthfully convey the outdoor experience and capture light and colors peculiar to a place and time. The style was made popular by the 19th century impressionists and today it continues to captivate the world's finest artists.

Come meet the artists and welcome Roger and his wife, Brenda to the neighborhood.
