Course in Food Preservation at Farmers' market

Want to find a way to savor a piece of Tennessee summer produce in February? The Nashville Community Gardens Steering Committee, Metro Parks, and the Farmer's Market have teamed up to offer a food preservation course at the Nashville Farmer's Market on
  • Saturday, July 22, 2006 from 9 to 11 a.m.
  • Monday, July 22, 2006 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The class will cover both freezing and canning techniques, preserving a variety of vegetables, vegetable pH and canning safety and hazards. All topics will be taught by Joan Wherley, a Williamson County Agriculture Extension Agent. Joan has 32 years experience with canning and food preservation and will be glad to share her knowledge and answer your questions. There will be a $6.00 materials fee, which will cover the cost of two publications for all participants.
